The Arista SFP-25G-MR-XSR is a SFP28 10/25GBASE-MR-XSR (dual rate, extended) module from Arista Networks for 25 Gbps / 10 Gbps links. It plugs into a SFP25 / SFP28 port on an Arista switch and is used for 25G server access, leaf-spine fabrics and 10G-to-25G migrations.

Arista specifies the SFP-25G-MR-XSR for 200 m OM3 / 300 m OM4 at 25G, and 300 m OM3 / 400 m OM4 at 10G.

Per Arista's published optics data sheet, the SFP-25G-MR-XSR transmits −6 to 2.4 dBm and receives −10.3 to 2.4 dBm.

The SFP-25G-MR-XSR uses a Duplex LC connector on multimode (OM3/OM4), at 850 nm. Both ends of the link must use the same optical standard.

SFP-25G-SR is fixed 25G (70 m OM3 / 100 m OM4). SFP-25G-MR-SR is dual-rate 25G/10G with the same 25G reach and 300/400 m at 10G, so it can talk to existing 10G-SR. SFP-25G-MR-XSR extends 25G reach to 200 m OM3 / 300 m OM4.

When linking to legacy fixed-rate 10G optics, attenuation may be needed to keep the 10G receiver within limits.
