About the NVIDIA Mellanox MMS4C10-RHS
The NVIDIA Mellanox MMS4C10-RHS is a hot-swappable OSFP twin-port 2 × 800G DR4 FRO Gen2 optical transceiver for 2 × 800 Gbps InfiniBand links over single-mode fiber, with a 2 × MPO-12/APC interface and reach of up to 500 m SMF. It is the Gen2 FRO (fully retimed optics) 1.6T twin-port DR4 for XDR InfiniBand switch ports in the RHS housing; the XDR-only sibling of MMS4C11. Twin-port 1.6T OSFP optics carry two independent 800G XDR links in one cage; each MPO-12/APC (or LC) port links to a single-port 800G optic at the adapter end or to another twin-port optic switch-to-switch. Breakout: 2 × 800G (one XDR / 800GbE link per port). Typical uses: XDR InfiniBand and 800GbE AI factories on Quantum-X800, Spectrum-X800 / Spectrum-6, GB300 and Vera Rubin systems.

IHS vs RHS: which 1.6T housing do I need?
IHS (integrated heat-sink) is the finned-top housing for air-cooled switch cages such as Quantum-X800 and Spectrum-X800 front panels. RHS (riding heat-sink) is the flat-top housing for cages that carry their own heat-sink: liquid-cooled switches, GB300 / Vera Rubin NVL72 trays and ConnectX-8 adapters. The optics are identical; only the housing differs, and the wrong one will not seat correctly. Tell us the system and we will supply the right SKU.
Does the MMS4C10-RHS support breakout?
NVIDIA lists 2 × 800G (one XDR / 800GbE link per port). Use the matching optics at the far end and a suitable splitter or breakout cable, and enable port splitting on the switch.
