About the NVIDIA Mellanox MMS1C00-C500
The NVIDIA Mellanox MMS1C00-C500 is a hot-swappable QSFP28 100G PSM4 optical transceiver for 100 Gbps InfiniBand and Ethernet links over single-mode fiber, with an MPO-12/APC interface and reach of up to 2 km SMF. It is the early Mellanox silicon-photonics PSM4 module at 1550 nm, used for 100GbE and EDR links up to 2 km over parallel single-mode fiber. PSM4 optics use four parallel single-mode lanes over an MPO-12 single-mode trunk, so one 100G link can also be split into 4 × 25G single-mode links. Typical uses: 100GbE leaf-spine fabrics, EDR InfiniBand HPC clusters, storage and data-center interconnect.

Which fiber and connector does the MMS1C00-C500 need?
The MMS1C00-C500 uses a MPO-12/APC (single-mode) connector on single-mode fiber (OS2), at 1550 nm (4 parallel lanes). APC connectors have an angled (green) end-face, so use APC patch cords and MPO trunks; a UPC cord will not mate correctly. Both ends of the link must use the same optical standard.
Does the MMS1C00-C500 work for both InfiniBand and Ethernet?
Yes. NVIDIA qualifies the MMS1C00-C500 for 100G PSM4 (also EDR InfiniBand), so the same module runs in InfiniBand mode on Quantum / Switch-IB ports and ConnectX VPI adapters, and in Ethernet mode on Spectrum switches and ConnectX Ethernet ports. The port decides the protocol; the optic does not need to change.
Is the MMS1C00-C500 compatible with my NVIDIA / Mellanox switch or adapter?
