The NVIDIA Mellanox MMS4X00-NL400 is a hot-swappable OSFP single-port 400G DR4 short reach optical transceiver for 400 Gbps InfiniBand links over single-mode fiber, with an MPO-12/APC interface and reach of up to 30 m SMF. It is the 30 m short-reach version of the single-port NDR OSFP DR4, used for in-row adapter-to-switch links; NVIDIA has since moved to the 500 m MMS4X00-NS400. Typical uses: NDR InfiniBand and 400GbE AI/HPC fabrics on ConnectX-7, BlueField-3, Quantum-2 and Spectrum-4.

Which fiber and connector does the MMS4X00-NL400 need?
The MMS4X00-NL400 uses a MPO-12/APC (single-mode) connector on single-mode fiber (OS2), at 1310 nm (4 parallel lanes). APC connectors have an angled (green) end-face, so use APC patch cords and MPO trunks; a UPC cord will not mate correctly. Both ends of the link must use the same optical standard.

Fit the housing to the cage, otherwise the module will not seat or cool properly.
